Clare County Council (CCC) 2019-2024
Each Year CCC spends €160million on your behalf, which totals to €800million over the next 5 years.
When first elected in 2004, I pledged to work hard on behalf of constituents on a platform of "no expenses", not go on taxpayer-funded Junkets abroad and not to accept any "top-up payments" as an office holder, such as a Mayor or Chair of Committee. I again pledge to continue my work in this manner in standing for the Local Election 2019 on Friday 24th May.
Over the last 15 years as a Local Councillor, I have worked towards building a stronger, safer and just community for all families and individuals of Ennis and the surrounding areas.
Since 2004, I seek to get the best value for taxpayers money by applying my experience in business, as Civil Engineer, Law Graduate and former Chief Fire Officer to influence decisions on spending the annual Clare County Council budget of over €110 million.
I believe that my recent strategic and proactive work as a councillor and working with the community, impacts positively not alone on today’s residents but also helps to build a successful future for Ennis and Clare.
This website outlines a selection of the hundreds of projects that I worked to make a difference for Ennis Town and District.
Ennis Municipal District
What does it mean?
The abolition of Town Councils means Clare County will be split into only 4 election areas, one of them is the Ennis Municipal District.
What does it mean for you ?
The election area in green (see map) is Ennis and it’s wider rural area including the villages of Barefield, Clooney, Doora, Quin, Clarecastle, Kilmaley and Kilnamona will now have only 8 councillors compared to the current number of 18 - a reduction in cost and duplication meaning better coordination and accountability.
I am one of only two of the 27 Ennis election candidates who previously served on both Ennis Town & Clare County Councils. I also have been working actively in rural development through my board membership with Clare Local Development Company for the last years.
